Basic training on facilitating dialogue, focusing on moderation skills and managing diverse conversational dynamics.

1. Understand the Fundamentals of Dialogue Facilitation:
   Grasp the core principles of dialogue, the role of a facilitator, and key traits for effective moderation (leadership, active listening, empathy).
2. Acquire Practical Facilitation Strategies:
   Learn how to establish ground rules, foster a welcoming environment, and employ techniques to initiate dialogue, maintain focus, and navigate challenging conversations with respect and skill.

Learning Experience, Activities

This workshop equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to facilitate constructive dialogues across differences. Participants will explore the core principles of dialogue, the role and traits of an effective facilitator, and practical strategies for creating inclusive spaces where diverse perspectives can be shared. The workshop will conclude with the opportunity for participants to plan their own discussion and craft a conversation guide.

Assessment

Rather than a summative assessment, this course concludes with a practice dialogue session that gives participants the opportunity to practice moderation and facilitation strategies. Further, participants have the opportunity to create their own conversation guide they can use in their community.
